The Buddy System provides Independent
Study courses for credit for all students. They
are many options for course credit that are available
to your child. Your child may be a good candidate
for Independent Study if:
They simply work better in a one-on-one environment
Your student is in a unique situation and is not
able to be in school (actors and athletes, for
example)
Your child needs to complete one subject (2nd
semester Geometry, for example) or as much as
a full course load in Independent Study
Your child left school mid-semester and needs
to complete the semester for credit to can matriculate
in to the new school
He or she who wants to improve a previous grade
in a subject (received a D in Chemistry, for example)
Your young adult wants to beef up their transcript
by aggressively completing more advanced courses
for credit
Your child is unable to find a summer school that
offers the course they need in a timely manner
Many schools are familiar with working with the
Buddy System in this way, and will accept course
credit as part of child’s school transcript.
All potential course requests are pre-approved
by your child’s school in advance of starting
the program so there is no grey area as to their
school’s approval. Buddy System Directors
are also available to speak to your child’s
school officials when you are considering Independent
Study.
The Buddy System has been approved as a candidate
for accreditation by the Schools Commission of
the Western Association of Schools and Colleges,
certifying that our programs are appropriately
accomplished through a viable educational program.
